Well I am fairly new at this type of thing so bare with me. We are starting a little late but better late than never.
Dominic was born Wednesday, February 25, 2009
1:12pm
8 lbs 7 oz
20 1/4 inches
The big day:
We went in to the hospital (The Womens Hospital of Texas) about 6:45 am. We had been to the Dr the day before and she told us to just go ahead and come in that next morning if nothing happens before then. By 8 am we were all checked into the room and I was about 5 cm dilated and the contractions were sporadic but around 5 min apart so they started me on ptosin to help progress the contractions. My contractions quickly became very regular about 2 min apart, but I still couldn't feel them they didn't hurt at all it was just a tightening feeling. At 9:45 Dr. Davis broke my water. That was painful and soon after that the contractions were getting worse. Got the epidural at 10:30. That didn't hurt near as bad as I thought it would have. I felt so much better after I got the epidural, I was calm, relaxed and ready to sleep haha. I had a few little problems with it though I was still able to feel the contractions so we had to up the dosage twice. After that I couldnt feel a thing. At 12:30 pm the doctor came in and said i was 10 cm and it was time to push. Akeil was the only one in the room with me. I pushed for about 35-40 min and he was born at 1:12 pm. My mom claims I don't even know what labor is... i'd have to agree, it was the easiest part of the whole pregnancy process. Akeil was videoing and taking pictures. He got to cut the cord and hold the little man right away. It was the most amazing feeling seeing him for the first time. We have never experienced anything like it. We spent about 48 hours in the hospital and went home Friday morning. Mom and dad did a lot for us helping us get the house ready and Mom had been there the day before cleaning and making sure everything was ready for us when we got there. She stayed with us until Monday (thank goodness) im not sure we could have done it without her. THANKS MOM!! We had soo many visitors the first 2 weeks, we loved showing him off but it was very tiring. We appreciate everyone who came to support us and who brought us gifts and flowers. We have such amazing friends and family!
Since then:
The first 2 weeks were filled with different emotions, very difficult and overwhelming, but also it was so amazing to finally have our little boy home with us. I am nursing him so at first he was up about every 2 hours to eat. Akeil was sooo helpful at night, he couldnt feed him obviously but he helped with changing and burping him. Unfortunately Akeil had to go back to work the day we came home from the hospital, I was very sad but he recently started a new job so he didn't want to make a bad impression. He got to take a couple days off that next week to spend time with us so that was nice. Dominic has been so good so far, he rarely cries unless he is hungry, he sleeps about 3 hours at a time at night now. He is so good when we give him baths and change his clothes. At about 3 and a half weeks we figured out I can't eat dairy products. It makes him throw up and Very fussy. So that has been hard for me because I LOVE milk and cheese. He smiles soo much when he is falling asleep after he eats, it’s the cutest thing. He has a head full of soft, dark, curly hair. I love it. He is 4 weeks and 2 days today!!
